Q&A With Ray Mang

Ray Mang is a DJ / Producer / Artist / Remixer who has been making his mark in the world of dance music since the mid 90s. His percussion heavy sound as both a DJ and producer is centred around disco, house and boogie but encompasses influences from across the board. He has released music on too many labels to mention as well as his own Mangled imprint, had many fruitful collaborations and remixed everyone from rock royalty to darlings of the underground. As a DJ he plays at festivals, clubs, bars, basements, on beaches, boats, and rooftops in some of the most beautiful locations around the world. As happy playing peak time Saturday night as he is providing the soundtrack to your sunset moment in paradise.

We thought it’d be fun to do a little Q&A with Ray so here goes:

BEST SCENE EVER

“The Camberwell Carrot from WithNail and I, “He’s not the Messiah! He’s a very naughty boy” scene from Life of Brian, the beach scene from Apocalypse Now and the Marshall amp scene in Spinal Tap to name but a few.”

ONE OF YOUR MOST LOVED SOUNDTRACKS

“The Warriors, RPM, Youngblood, Subway, Betty Blue, Super Fly, That’s The Way of The World, Coffy, Midnight Express, and the list goes on.”

LAST SUPPER

“Recently I’ve fallen in love all over again with Mangal One on Arcola Street. Ezme & Patlican Salata followed by the mixed grill every time. Washed down with a couple of Efes and a Chateau Musar ’98.”

GUILTY PLEASURE

“BBQ Beef Hula Hoops (my youngest daughter called me out on this one).”

WHAT DO YOU LOVE TO COOK?

“I always love a good stew or a Sunday roast. Also big on salads.”

So that concludes our Q&A with Ray Mang – now let’s get to the music

As part of our monthly guest DJ sets on Mixcloud and next in the line-up to continue our monthly sessions is Ray Mang, who will be kicking us off with this…
